I.       Standard of Competence:
6.   Expressing the meaning of short-functional written text and simple report essay, narrative analytical exposition in daily life contexts.

Basic Competence:
6.1 Expressing the meaning of short-functional text (e.g. banner, poster, pamphlet, etc) in form of formal and informal text by using various types of written language accurately, fluently and appropriately in daily life contexts.

Sub-basic Competence
6.1.1 Expressing the meaning of short-formal functional text in form of educational poster accurately, fluently, and appropriately in daily life contexts.

Indicator:
Create banner, poster or pamphlet accurately and appropriately in daily life contexts.

Learning Objective:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to be able to:
Make simple educational written poster based on given information about how to make simple educational poster accurately and appropriately in daily life contexts.

Educational Poster
A poster is a “public” piece of paper conveying information through text (words) and/or graphic images (symbols or pictures). A poster must convey its message with immediacy and purpose, because people on the street are often in a hurry. Posters are designed to give an informative. Whatever the size or shape, posters have a job to do and that is to convey information. Educational posters usually give the readers information about something that is increasing readers’ knowledge, such us health hazard, the importance of education, the dangerous effects of drugs or smoke.
Educational Posters carry many kinds of information:
       a.       They may alert citizens to health hazards or the presence of other dangers in the community.
       b.      Grab your attention.
       c.       Entice you to read the information they display.
       d.      Present the information clearly and fully, so that you understand what the poster wants to say.

PRE ACTIVITIES
1.     Greeting the students
“Good Morning, everyone.  How are you today?”


2.     Checking the present list
“Who is absent today? Is everyone already here?”

3.     Giving motivation and elicit students’ background knowledge by showing a picture and asking some questions related to the topic “movie review”

a.    Who knows what kind of picture is this?

b.    We can find this picture in every where, such as in street, in hospital, school and others. It is made by paper and it gives information. So, can anyone guess what kind of picture is this?
c.    Yes, this is a poster. So, what is the poster talking about?
d.   Very good, so if there is a poster that gives some information that increase our knowledge, it is called “ Educational Poster”


4.     Telling the objective of the lesson.
“Ok, can you guess what we are going to learn today?”
“What do we do with the educational poster?”
“Good. Writing an educational poster. So, at the end of the lesson, the students of the eleventh grade in the second semester are able to write a simple educational poster based on the given information accurately and appropriately with 70% achievement.”

WHILE ACTIVITIES
5.     Explaining about educational poster
Teacher explains about educational poster.
 A poster is a “public” piece of paper conveying information through text (words) and/or graphic images (symbols or pictures).  Educational posters usually give the readers information about something that is increasing readers’ knowledge, such us health hazard, the important of education and others.
6.     Giving  example
Teacher shows example of educational poster.


 




7.     Giving  exercise
a.      Asking the students to make group consists of 4 students and each group will be given numbered head together.
b.      Asking the students to make a simple written educational poster with their group.
c.      Asking the students to attach the educational poster they have made in the white board.
d.     Teacher decides which educational poster is the best and gives reward to the best group.


POST ACTIVITIES
8.     Reviewing  the lesson by asking some questions:
“What have we learned today?”
       “What is educational poster?”







9.     Carrying out evaluation (See the evaluation sheet)
“Work in pairs and write a simple-short educational poster”
10. Collecting the students’ work
